Chalanas Restaurant: Discover Authentic Brazilian Flavors in Mount Vernon

BRAZIL Eat the World NYC review: The state of Minas Gerais is the original home to many of the folks who have come to make Mount Vernon their home, starting back in the 1980's. Nowadays, churrascarias both Brazilian and Portuguese can be found near the center of this small city just north of the Bronx, along with bakeries, butchers, and other businesses catering to what is said to be more than one in every ten people in Mount Vernon. Having walked through the area on a couple occasions but never eaten, recently an opportunity finally presented itself at Chalanas, a casual churrascaria that is a good primer to town. While many churrascarias will charge one price and allow unlimited dining, some ask diners to make plates for themselves, weigh everything, and pay up front like they do here. For people who never quite feel that they can take full advantage of an all-you-can-eat rodizio situation, this is preferable and also doubles as a way to limit your indulgence knowing that every extra cut of picanha or spoon of beans will cost you.

Super chill vybe over here. Especially in the summer. The drinks are good. The place is humble and quaint. Food is so worth it. I 100% recommend getting the lamb and I remember and a Tamarin drink there that tasted so good that someone made. Staff is friendly, definitely a mom and pop business.

Best steak you’re going to find in Westchester county! The vinho verde so amazing. I wish a few more less carb options for the buffet was available.

I was hungry and found this place, the food was great the meat was also great, the receptionist mentioned that Buffett is 13 plate. and steak I think she said 14 per pound. Is bit price.

1st time there. The cashier is very friendly. The food is by weight. The salad bar and meat BBQ all charged by weight. The meat is well seasoned. Not too salty. The salad bar Also has promotion that to go for $12 only. We sat down to eat. We enjoyed so much we also purchased the salad bar to go deal for dinner. Will come back again.

Nice Brazilian BBQ place. Different style as you pay for either a plate of meat or plate of sides. Sauces like Aji and Chimichurri made the meat taste even better.

The place is very nice! You get your meal in the buffet, choose a meat for the server to cut up for you, and pricing is based on the weight of the food. It’s pretty pricey, but if you can afford to, this place has some really solid food. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
